Yoga is a holistic system of physical, mental, and spiritual practices that originated in ancient India. It encompasses a wide range of techniques and disciplines aimed at promoting overall well-being and harmony. The practice of yoga typically includes physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), mindfulness (dharana), meditation (dhyana), and ethical principles. It is often regarded as a path to self-discovery, self-improvement, and a means of achieving balance and unity between the body, mind, and spirit. Our One-on-One Yoga sessions are provided by Nathalie Mercier, our Registered Psychologist and Certified Yoga Teacher. Clients will benefit from individualized attention and a comprehensive approach that seamlessly weaves together psychological principles and yoga techniques. This integration enhances self-awareness, resilience, and overall mental and emotional well-being.
Through the use of traditional Hatha Yoga instruction, which believes the body is the primary vehicle for personal transformation, you will benefit from a tailored and integrated approach that fits comfortably with your unique needs, and maximizes your mental and physical health benefits. Yoga is about working towards uniting body and mind, along with heart and spirit, using specific techniques, philosophies and practices. Yoga practice is one of no-harm, ahimsa (non-violence), the first and foremost of the five yamas (disciplines) described in the Yoga Sutra where we respect the body within its capabilities and limitations. While in poses (asanas) feeling the exercising, moving, and stretching of the body, the aim is to also move beyond external form and connect with the internal experience, where live the organs, anatomical and biological processes, thoughts, feelings, and sensations. As we build body awareness skills, we may also extend these practices into life where we are invited to live in such a way that we keep moving, breathing and thinking in good ways, causing no harm in thought, speech, or action to any living being, including ourselves.
Our Certified Yoga Teacher, Nathalie Mercier, is a well-educated, skilled professional who works with each client to determine session goals specific to their needs. Whether you're looking to improve physical fitness, reduce stress, or cultivate inner peace, yoga provides a versatile and accessible practice that can support holistic health and well-being.

HOW YOGA CAN HELP
Yoga offers a multitude of benefits for the body, mind, and spirit. When done well and safely, the practice of Yoga and its techniques can help with focus, relaxation, restoration, strength-building, flexibility, and have many mental and physical health benefits.
Positive benefits can be achieved through simple and gentle yet powerful channels without contorting or putting the body into positions it just can’t or won’t go. Yoga is an impactful way to meet our edge, stay with it, dance and move gently with it, gradually stretching and going beyond, at the body’s own pace. Yoga applies the skills and foundations of physical alignment and movement with understanding and kindness which can be taken from our formal practice into our day to day life. We naturally wish to be happier, at peace, and at ease so we can allow our best selves to emerge. Through Yoga, we can learn to get to know ourselves in a different way, develop body awareness and temper reactivity from our protective autonomic nervous system. We can also learn to have more conscious attention and intention as we experience ourselves, our loved ones and others in more meaningful ways.
